Horrid Halloween Drive-Thru
For the last 13 years, the Hamlin Recreation Department has been putting on amazing and exciting Halloween events for young and old to enjoy. This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Scream Fest will not take place since most of the activities cannot be managed in a socially distanced manner.

So we needed a new way to have Halloween fun, but also make families feel safe. We came up with something new: a Halloween themed drive-through display in our Town Park! This has been done in other places with holiday lighting displays- but not Halloween themed. We’re going to call it HAMLIN’S HORRID HALLOWEEN DRIVE-THRU TRAIL, since it will take place on Halloween; Saturday 10/31/2020.

We are looking for organizations and family/friend groups who would like to participate at our event by creating/performing displays that visitors can drive by. Halloween displays can be scary, creepy, cute, haunted… but they MUST be Halloween themed! If your organization would like to hand-out materials to event visitors, these materials must be supplied to us by one week prior to the event (10/23) so that we can compile them all into gift bags which will be given to each participant at the end of the Drive-Thru.
For example; children might like coloring pages, mini craft kits, pumpkins, etc.  Adults might enjoy coupons for wine/beer/cider tastings, information about your organization or product, sample products, etc.

You do NOT need to hand out anything! We have wonderful event sponsors who have made sure that kids will get some Halloween candy.

The idea is not only to create a fun Halloween themed drive-thru for our community, but to provide an afternoon of Halloween fun; together with your friends, co-workers, or family. Each group will spend time together setting up their display (3:00 – 7:00 pm), performing in the event (7:00 – 9:00 pm – if necessary), then packing up again (this always goes way faster than the painstakingly detailed set-up or prep).
We’ll even provide pizza!
You get to choose the group you feel safe with and you’ll create some amazing new Halloween memories!
Participants (the drive-through audience) will also be encouraged to vote on the best display.

The winner will receive The Golden Pumpkin award and a $100 cash prize!
