Starting on Monday, June 28th, the Hamlin Recreation Department will once again offer its Summer Discovery Camp in a limited capacity to children who have completed Kindergarten through 6th grade. This program will run for 8 weeks until 8/20/21.
Free from academic demands, kids learn in different ways in the summer!
We’ll focus on their curiosity and their limitless imagination to help them develop their play space for the summer. We have an entire park at our disposal for fun activities and there will be time for traditional activities such as arts & crafts, field games, kite flying, and loads of other surprises.
Breakfast & an afternoon snack will be provided!
Every day each camper will need to bring:
Lunch (bagged/boxed - no prep required from staff!)
Swimsuit & Towel (and a plastic bag with which to take home wet items)
A water bottle
A sun hat or cap
Sneakers (or any other type of closed toe shoe)
Water sandals or flip-flops
2 face masks fitted for the child's face size*
A Typical Day at Discovery Camp
Drop-off to 9:00 am: free choice, games, and socializing
9:00 - 9:30 am: breakfast (included in registration fee)
9:30 - noon: programmed activities (stations in the park such as tennis, kickball, basketball, ga-ga ball, crafts, water games on the lawn, and various team sports)
noon - 12:30pm: lunch break (children must bring their own lunches)
12:30 - 1:00 pm: reading or rest time
1:00 - 3:00 pm: programmed activities
3:00 - 3:30 pm: afternoon snack (included in registration fee)
3:30 - Pick-up: free choice, games, and socializing
Every Friday the camp will go to Hamlin Beach State Park for swimming and beach play. The bus will leave camp at 11:30 am and return at approximately 3:00 pm. Please make sure the kids are equipped with swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and a beach bag for wet clothing.

*- Due to ongoing health concerns regarding the current Covid-19 crisis, we will not be going on any field trips this year nor will we be inviting guest presentations to the Camp this summer.
- Children will not be required to wear masks all the time, but may be required some times (public spaces such as the playground).
- Extra staff will be on hand to make it possible for us to perform daily health checks along with a myriad of other safety and sanitation protocols.
- Parents will be sent a Camp packet after registration which will inform them of all instructions, safety measures, and procedures.
- Prior to attendance, parents will be required to submit the most recent copy of their child's vaccination record as well as a completed Authorized Pick-Up/Emergency Info sheet (this will be included in the Camp packet you will be sent).
PLEASE NOTE: Parents may register for only a few days, or for entire weeks.
Since some days within the program have already reached maximum capacity of registrations, this system will not show that week as being 'available'. Please go to DAILY registrations to see which days are still available within that week you would have requested.
The Hamlin Recreation Staff will work hard to provide a safe and fun camp experience for your child this summer!
